You don&#8217;t need any dedicated or proprietary hardware. Smartphones and tablets that your team already owns or can buy at low cost are ready to use right away in most cases.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depending on the use case, different device types are recommended. The following overview helps you choose the right combination for your venue.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Smartphones: the scanners<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Smartphones are used as scanners. Staff use them to scan guests&#8217; identifiers at check-in and at pickup (checkout). Every person working at the cloakroom needs their own smartphone with the Tapcoat app.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Supported operating systems:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>iPhone:<\/strong> iPhone XR (2018) or newer, iOS 15 or later recommended<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Android:<\/strong> All current Android smartphones with Android 10 or later<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Any smartphone with a working camera is sufficient for QR code scanning. For NFC check-in, the device must be NFC-enabled. You&#8217;ll find details in article 2.5.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tablets: kiosk mode<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tablets are run in kiosk mode as a guest display at the cloakroom counter. The guest sees live what the staff enters \u2014 for example &#8220;1 jacket + 1 suitcase&#8221; \u2014 and can scan their QR code directly on the tablet to complete the check-in.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kiosk mode can be activated by scanning a QR code. The tablet then automatically switches to an optimized guest view.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Design options available in kiosk mode:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Logo of the event organizer or venue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Simple 3-step guide for guests right on the screen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fully branded design to match your corporate design<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Supported devices:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>iPad:<\/strong> iPad (6th generation, 2018) or newer, iPadOS 15 or later recommended<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Android tablets:<\/strong> All current models with Android 10 or later<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#f0f4ff;padding-top:16px;padding-right:16px;padding-bottom:16px;padding-left:16px\"><strong>Enterprise: kiosk terminals<\/strong> \u2014 On the Enterprise plan, Tapcoat supplies full-fledged kiosk terminals with their own scanning function and a dual-screen setup on request \u2014 ideal for high-volume venues such as stadiums, trade shows, or convention centers. Details on request at <a href=\"mailto:post@tapcoat.com\">post@tapcoat.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Receipt printer (optional)<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tapcoat is designed to work paperless. Guests receive their receipt digitally as a wallet pass. On explicit request, a receipt printer can be added \u2014 for example for venues that want to offer a physical receipt as an additional option.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bluetooth receipt printers are supported. The integration is available on request and set up individually. Specific printer models are agreed on as part of the setup.
