Install & set up the Tapcoat app with ease
The Tapcoat app is the central workspace for your cloakroom staff and on-site Managers. It is installed on each team member’s smartphone or tablet and runs natively on iOS and Android.
Download & installation
The app is available as a free download in both major app stores:
- Apple App Store: Search for “Tapcoat” or open the store directly via tapcoat.com
- Google Play Store: Search for “Tapcoat digital cloakroom” or open the store directly via tapcoat.com
Installation works just like any other app: tap “Get” or “Install”, wait a moment, and you’re done.
First login
- Open the Tapcoat app after installation.
- Enter your email address and password. You set both when you created your account or after your Admin invited you.
- Tap “Log in”.
- On your first login, the app walks you through a short digital onboarding — a guided tour of the most important features. It only takes a few minutes.
- After onboarding, you’ll see the events you’ve been given access to right away. If there is only one active event, you land there automatically.
Important: Each person needs their own account and their own login credentials. Shared logins are not allowed and lead to check-ins being attributed incorrectly.
Activating kiosk mode on a tablet
If you want to use a tablet as a guest display at the cloakroom counter, activate kiosk mode as follows:
- Open the Tapcoat app on the tablet and log in with your credentials.
- Scan the kiosk QR code that the system provides.
- The tablet automatically switches to the kiosk view — a simplified interface optimized for guests.
In kiosk mode, guests see live what staff enter on the smartphone. At the same time, guests can scan their own QR code on the tablet screen. The tablet therefore acts as both a display and a scan point.
Granting permissions
The first time you launch it, the app asks for certain permissions. Grant the following access so that all features run smoothly:
- Camera — required for scanning QR codes
- NFC — required for NFC check-in (only requested if NFC was chosen as the identifier)
- Notifications — optional, but recommended for internal system alerts
Tip before the event: Install and launch the app at least once before event day. This ensures that all permissions are set, onboarding is complete, and any connection issues are spotted in time.
